第22章 受動態の形式
「自動詞 ＋ 前置詞」「自動詞 ＋ 副詞 ＋ 前置詞」「他動詞 ＋ 名詞 ＋ 前置詞」などがまとまって1つの他動詞の働きをしているときは、前置詞の目的語を主語にして受動態の文をつくることができます。
- 「自動詞 ＋ 前置詞」

\text{Everybody relies on you to attend the meeting. } \\

【注】上記のlaugh at、rely onのほか、これに類したものにask for（～を請求する）、attend to（～に注意する）、care for（～の世話をする）、depend on（～を信頼する）、hear of（～の消息を聞く）、impose on（～をだます）、listen to（～に耳を傾ける）、look after（～の世話をする）、look at（～を見る）、look for（～をさがす）、look into（～を調べる）、run after（～を追いかける）、run over（～を越える、ひく）、send for（～を迎えにやる）、speak to（～に話しかける）、think of（～のことを考える）、write to（～に手紙を書く）などがあります。 - 「自動詞 ＋ 副詞 ＋ 前置詞」

【注】これに類する他の表現には、make fun of（～をからかう）、make much of（～を重んじる）、take care of（～を世話する、大事にする）、take heed of（＝pay attention to ～を気に留める、～に注意を払う）などがあります。
